E-commerce driven social circle
My Expanded Circle is a start-up with a simple goal - to help their users meet like-minded people. My Expnaded Circle approached us to create the website to realise that goal.
The website operates on 2 levels. The public section of the website contains information about what My Expanded Circle offer. The members section contains the meat of the website.
Members have tools to send each other messages, chat online, engage in discussions in the integrated forum, sign-up for and create new events, edit their profile, search for other members and manage their account.
Finding other members is simple with the search tool. Once the member has completed a questionnaire of their likes and dislikes, the search tool can match their preferences against those of other members. The user has complete control over how this matching is performed, or they can search simply by postcode and the search tool will respond by listing the results in distance order.
The e-commerce engine keeps track of the subscriptions which users can top-up at any time. Events can be paid for online and automatically authorised by the payment gateway.
To encourage members to invite their friends to join-up a referral system was developed. A percentage of joining fees are added to a credit bank for each member. These credits can then be used to pay for events through the e-commerce system or can be converted into cash.
